I am not totally agree with what Horishi said, “You can never really understand someone from another culture.” If you would spend time and try to understand and accept someone from another culture, you can do that. The ways of thinking and the habits of life are built base on your culture background. They are really hard to be changed when they have been parts of you. But it doesn’t mean you will not change in some conditions. It depends on how you understand each other from different culture. I have many friends that they have married their husband/wife from another culture. Chinese man married foreign woman. Chinese woman married foreign man. They are living very comfortable and happy. If they can really understand someone from another culture, how can they live together for long time? One of my Chinese best friend, he married and lived with a polish girl in China. He told me that he believed in fate and he was very luck to meet her wife in this big world. His wife loves him and his Chinese culture. She has been adapted herself to living with a Chinese guy in another culture. This is exactly a good example supporting my opinion. If you want to try you can understand someone from another culture.
