“We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas, we wish a merry Christmas and a happy new year.” what a beautiful song! Have you ever heard about the story of Christmas? Once upon a time, Santa rode four deer and went to people’s houses to give out gifts. Santa would enter the houses through the chimneys to give out the gifts the children have always wished to have. After the story has been told. The children get excited and expect this day to come. However, Christmas is not only exciting for children but for adults as well because of the gifts, the sprit of the city and the family reunions.
First, I would like to exchange presents with my family and friends on this holiday. Before Christmas, I normally go shopping and get some ideas about what kind of gift I’m looking for. Then, I have to decide to buy a gift that I like or choose a gift that I expect the person would like. After the gifts are bought, I would wrap them up by myself. When that day comes, I would be so excited to open all of those gifts that I received. I wish I could receive a gift that I have desired for a long time. I can imagine during that moment, I would be so happy and be giving the best wishes to everyone.
Second, The city seems to be filled with good spirit. Some people are dressed like Santa and give candies to everybody who passes by them on the street. Places like downtown are so crowded. People sing Christmas songs and songs that are related to Christmas which attracts people to watch. When you are walking on the street, you will discover that most stores are decorated with Christmas trees. Also, you will notice the prices to be cheaper than usual before Christmas. There is a big Christmas tree in downtown Chicago that attracts a lot of visitors to go there to take pictures. Even though the weather is cold, the heart feels warm in this season.
Third, my whole family gets together on Christmas. Some of my uncles and cousins that live in other countries or cities will come back on this day for a reunion. We are always excited to see each other no matter how far the distance is, and how much time has passed since we last saw each other. We would talk just about anything during the dinner as we have not been like this for such a long time. I think it is a good time to improve out relationship, especially for the person who I have not seen for a long time. After dinner, the children would mostly play “hide and seek”. As for adults would be playing mahjong or just plain old chat. It would be a day full of rejoicing.
The important day of the year, Christmas, is the happiest day and everyone anticipates that day to come. In my opinion, it is the only day that brings everyone in the big family to meet in one place. This is what makes it so important. We are happy to exchange gifts, walk down the street listening to the concerts and gather with family. Noting beats the excitement of being able to stay together as one family during this holiday.
